Silver Sparkle T-Style Tribute to Buck Owens and Don Rich

I built this Silver Sparkle T-Style tribute to Buck Owens and Don Rich for my dear friend and world-class guitarist, Roger Hoard. Read the background on the guitar directly from Rog.

Silver Sparkle Buck Owens Tribute “I asked Bill to build me a Silver Sparkle T-Syle, and it took off from there. Don Rich was my first guitar hero, and I met him around 1965. Later at Jamboree USA in Wheeling, I opened for Buck and the Buckaroos a couple of times. Jerry Brightman was hired to play for them around that time. Then our staff band opened for Buck in Des Moines, Iowa, as part of the Detroit Diesel Power Parade Caravan. That, I believe, was the first show without Don; a sad, strange evening in August of 1974.

In 1988, I became musical director at Jamboree USA (and had the pleasure of booking a young Brad Paisley on the show) and found the 1966 picture of Buck and Don on my desk. It was taken by Warren Bayes, the staff photographer for the Wheeling Intelligencer newspaper.

For the autographs, I’ve had the Don Rich autograph since I was a kid. Bill had the Buck autograph after he made a guitar for him. Steve Dickers did the checkerboard binding for this guitar, and Charlie McVay did the benders.

It’s the finest guitar I’ve ever owned, and I’m blessed to be able to play it.”

That is one gorgeous guitar ! The only thing that could make it better would be a sound clip of Roger playing it .

I have the great fortune of being on stage with this incredible guitar every night. I can tell you that not only is this an amazing looking guitar, it also sounds killer. The flake is extremely brilliant on stage. Bill has outdone himself once again. This guitar eats all others for lunch.

Great job Bill! And great site!!!
